To become a building inspector in the UK, you must apply to the Construction Industry Council Approved Inspectors Register (CICAIR). You will need to be assessed every 5 years to maintain your approval, and CICAIR will contact you around 18 months before your approval expires.
To become an entry level building inspector in the UK, you will need 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, for a level 3 course. Alternatively, you can have 1 or 2 A levels, a level 3 diploma or relevant experience for a level 4 or level 5 course.
Building inspectors come out at five stages: Commencement (which may be combined with stage 2), inspection of new foundations to sequence, inspection of completed dry packing and next foundations, inspection of completed dry packing last foundations, and completion.
